Stop at the Mayflower steps...

On our way home from Buckland Monachrum we made a stop in Plymouth. We visited the Mayflower steps, it is the exact location that in the year 1620 the pilgrims boarded the Mayflower and 2 other ships to make their way to the United States for many freedoms. It was an amazing place to visit and to think that the start of a new nation was birthed at those very steps.

We didn't get to visit the museum because it was closed. But we hope to come back and visit and spend some more time. Right behind the Mayflower steps is the Hoe, it the place that Sir Francis Drake was playing ball while the Spanish Armada made their way up the English Channel to attack England until a strong wind came and blew them out of the channel. Again, it is remarkable how much history there is in the area in which we live.
